Pets hold a special place in our hearts. They bring comfort, joy, and companionship to people of all ages. For the elderly, a pet can often be a connection to their past, to their family or children, and bring back memories of a less complicated time in their lives. Here at Oaks Senior Living, we love pets! Many of our communities have ‘resident dogs, ' and our residents are welcome to care for pets of their own. Throughout the years, we have had residents bring dogs, cats, and even bunnies on occasion.
Caring for a loved one is extremely gratifying and fulfilling, all while being mentally and physically draining. For those caregivers who need time for themselves and to recharge, Respite care gives caregivers time away from those they care for on a daily basis. This temporary relief gives them the opportunity to take a break from the daily routines and challenges they experience when caring for an elderly loved one. Because of this, respite care is known as the 'gift of time.'
