Frank was born in Newark, NJ, on Sept.26, 1930. His parents had immigrated to America from Germany during the rise of the Nazis in Europe and The Great Depression in America. German was Frank’s first spoken language, but English was a close second. Frank graduated from Union New Jersey High School and Seton Hall University. After two years in the Army, Frank made a powerful career move. He moved to Atlanta to become Manager of Property Taxes for the Coca-Cola Company in the USA for 31 years!
Ms. Aileen, who will be turning 102 years old this week, is one of our favorite centenarians! She was born on June 9, 1916, in Cherokee County, South Carolina. Great-granddaughter of Lt. Col. Frederick Hambright, who fought at the Battle of Kings Mountain during the American Revolution. Aileen proudly shares tales of what it was like to be the second oldest of eight children, and one of six daughters to two wonderful parents. She often talks about the excitement of being raised on a cotton and vegetable farm “out in the country.”
Who doesn’t want to live their best life? Well, in order to accomplish that you have to eat well, take care of yourself, get adequate sleep, and exercise regularly. Unfortunately, if you are in a wheelchair it can be somewhat discouraging when it comes to starting an exercise routine. The good news is at Oaks Senior Living, we are here to encourage you every step of the way. The best way to commit to wheelchair exercises is to grab your best friend as a workout partner! If your best friend is not in a wheelchair, or vice versa, the wheelchair can be substituted for sitting in a regular chair. So, grab your best friend and get started!
