Congratulations Mr. David, our October Resident of the Month! Mr. David has been a resident at the Oaks at Pooler since July 2017. We feel so blessed that we have the privilege to spend time with him and have the opportunity to get to know so much about his life. Mr. David has a devoted wife who is often found by his side, and the love they have for one another is infectious! Mr. David and his wife met and began dancing together 20 years ago, and they both still love to dance when given the chance! Last year, they had a great time dancing the night away at The Oaks Senior Prom and they can still be found dancing together when Salón de Baile hosts Ballroom Dancing lessons in our community!
Born in Allendale, South Carolina, Mr. David was then raised in the small rural community of Sylvania, Georgia by his loving grandparents. He graduated from Sylvania High School and then served our country in the United States Air Force for four years. His military service provided him the opportunity to travel all over Europe. After returning to the states, he became a Tech Rep for a Multi-Graphics company and traveled all over the South repairing printing presses. He is blessed with 1 daughter, 4 grandchildren, and 5 great-grandchildren. He was a very active member of Midway Methodist Church where he taught Sunday School. Mr. David enjoys traveling, a few of his favorite visits include Ireland, and an Alaskan Cruise. He’s a big fan of 1950’s Beach Music, has a love of Western movies, and really enjoys watching sports. He is a huge University of Georgia fan, and also enjoys watching the Atlanta Braves and the Atlanta Falcons. Mr. David’s sweet tooth will never miss the opportunity to participate in an Ice Cream or Coke Float Social!
Our care partners enjoy spending time with Mr. David because of his sweet personality, approachable manner, and carefree spirit. He is easy to get along with, is a sharp dresser, and has a great sense of humor. It is not often that you will see him without a warm, contagious smile on his face and a unique twinkle in his blue eyes. Mr. David always has family and friends around him, and sometimes we affectionately call him, “Mr. Popularity!” If he doesn’t have company visiting, he is receiving mail from many of his friends and family members, also known as his Fan Club! Mr. David enthusiastically enjoys dining time, participating in social events and outings. He is the true definition of a “Southern Gentlemen,” and we are so appreciative and proud to have him here with us.
