Bob was born in Richmond, Calif., in 1947, and was raised in the San Francisco Bay area. He lived with his mom, Katharine, dad, Virgil, and older sister, Betsy. He went through junior high school in Richmond and graduated from Clayton Valley High School in Concord, California in 1965.
Bob went on to attend the University of California at Davis and graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Mathematics. During his time at college, he was a member and the leader of the Sigma Nu fraternity. In 1969, Bob was working on a Master’s Degree in Mathematics and Computer Science when he received his draft notice from the Marine Corps.
In the Marine Corps, he served in the United States Marine Corp from July 1969 to July 1975. Bob spent six months on active duty from July 1969 to January 1970 and was part of the reserves from January 1970 to July 1975. He received an honorable discharge with the rank of Staff Sergeant.
In 1972, he joined IBM as a Sales Representative in Honolulu, Hawaii. In his role, he covered a diverse range of territories – including the public and private school systems and all the hospitals on the island of Oahu. He began his career with IBM selling typewriters and copiers and completed it with the Data Processing Division selling mid-range computer systems.
In 1976, he moved to Dallas, Texas. For 12 years he worked in Computer Language Research with Fast-Tax, at that company his last title was National Sales Director where he managed sales and support for new software products. During his career, his positions spanned various sales and management positions including office equipment sales, tax software sales and management, a consultant for Lotus Notes clients, sales representative for back-office banking systems, health insurance agent, and commercial real estate broker.
Bob moved into Oaks at Hampton on July 15, 2014, with his two cats. Bob is a joy to be around, and we love to have him as part of our community. We enjoy witnessing his passion for animals (especially his cats!).
