Meet Resident Bob | Oaks at Hampton

 Bob and his wife Mildred were both raised in Patterson, New Jersey. Although they went to the same school, they didn’t date until after graduation. Their relationship was definitely everlasting as they have been married for 73 years. Bob and Mildred have a son Robert who lives in Alabama and a devoted daughter Janet who lives nearby and who spends a lot of time with them. 

Bob attended Lafayette College and then enlisted in the Army Air Force as a 1 st Lieutenant. He joined the 727 th Squadron Bombardment Group piloting B24’s. In April 1943 Bob transferred to Newark and he then flew 26 mission. He was transferred again in 1945 to Fort Dix and was sent to Italy. Bob was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross and an Air Metal with the 2 Oak Leaf Cluster. 

After his time in the service Bob enrolled in North Carolina State College and received an Electrical Engineering degree. He became President and CEO of Smith Products, Inc.

Bob is an honored WWII war veteran and was able to go on the Angel Flight trip to Washington DC in 2015. Bob loves to do jigsaw puzzles. You can also find Bob, his wife and daughter enjoying a challenging board game or two.
