Oaks Senior Living Resident Highlight

Meet Resident Margaret | Oaks at Braselton

Posted by Oaks Senior Living | 2 minute read

We would like to congratulate Margaret, our Oaks Senior Living March Resident of the Month!

Margaret has been a resident at Oaks at Braselton since July 2018. It was a pleasure for us to get a chance to learn more about her unique story and share it with our other residents and guests!

Margaret was born in Hayesville, North Carolina and attended school there as well. She comes from a hard-working family of farmers, who primarily sold milk and eggs on the farm to provide for the children, which included Margaret, her five brothers, and her sister!

Stating she was a tomboy in her younger years, Margaret explained that all of the kids in her neighborhood would come to her house and play baseball in their spare time. Later on, she was on the women’s basketball team and says that she was very athletic throughout her time at the high school.

During Margaret’s earlier years, she was employed at Sears after graduating high school and later worked for the IRS, where she met her loving husband. She was a typist, and he was a repairman at the company. The two had met when Margaret’s typewriter broke down, sparking a loving relationship. Needless to say, her typewriter broke down a lot after their first meeting! The couple went on to have two children, Stephen and Sheila. Margaret also told us that she now also has three grandchildren and five great-grandkids!

Margaret enjoys reading mysteries, playing games, gardening, talking with friends, helping others, and delicious food. She loves to spend time with her family and friends, especially when the holidays are nearing. One of her favorite things to do is visit her cabin in the mountains whenever she has a chance.

Margaret enjoys many aspects of her Oaks at Braselton community, but she most enjoys the fellowship between residents. She also appreciates having the opportunity to not cook for herself, and loves all the activities that are available to her.

People that know Margaret say that she’s humble, friendly, and always smiling! She has always been very considerate of others and loves to help people in need. During her time at Oaks, she has made many friends that are glad to know such a wonderful person.

We are very fortunate that Ms. Margaret chose to join our family. We want to thank her for sharing her incredible story with us to share, and we congratulate her as our March Resident of the Month!
