This month, we’re getting to know John, a resident of Oaks at Hampton. He was born in Taylor County, Georgia on August 25, 1923. John was the baby of a farming family. His dad farmed cotton and corn and his mother took care of John, his four sisters, and four brothers. A busy household, indeed!
Steve Iroff is an accomplished and seasoned Executive with over 15 years in the Senior Living industry in operations, marketing and sales where he has managed premier senior living communities.
Bob and his wife Mildred were both raised in Patterson, New Jersey. Although they went to the same school, they didn’t date until after graduation. Their relationship was definitely everlasting as they have been married for 73 years. Bob and Mildred have a son Robert who lives in Alabama and a devoted daughter Janet who lives nearby and who spends a lot of time with them.
Verdelle was born in Dawson County to Roscoe and Stella Tatum. There were six children, 5 girls and 1 boy. Later the family moved to Forsyth County, Georgia. One particular house where the Tatums resided on Kelly Mill Road in Cumming is still standing.
Esther Gladys Walker, the only child of John and Elizabeth Hermanson, was born in New York City. Her mother, Elizabeth, emigrated from Sweden, arriving at Ellis Island via the Lusitania at the tender age of 16.
Xavier Holmes, our April Employee of the Month, was born in Georgetown, South Carolina. He attended Carvers Bay High School and was accepted into the Honor Society in 7th grade. Xavier played basketball, football, and ran track through out middle and high school. He attended college at the University of South Carolina Aiken for two and a half years, majoring in business. In 2012, he moved to Georgia to attend Le Cordon Bleu and pursue his cooking dreams. He graduated cooking school in October, 2013.
